Walk with Me by Kaitlyn Stone Review

Inspired by true events, this book is for mature readers due to the adult nature and scenes. 18+

What dictates the path in life we take and who we choose to walk with?

After escaping her abusive parents, nineteen-year-old Kenna Sloane is determined to create an independent life, free of emotional distraction. The last thing this focused college student wants is a relationship, especially with a hot rookie cop popular with the badge bunnies.

When Kenna reluctantly agrees to a double date with Santa Monica cop Donovan Alexander, she's launched on an exciting and dangerous journey. With time, she discovers some souls are instinctively drawn together to quiet the pain of their traumatic pasts. But even after the revelation of Donovan's own secret burden, Kenna continues to battle the fear she may be too broken for her modern day knight in blue.

Can Kenna open her heart to the healing light of true love before peril strikes?

So this story is about survival, plain and simple and the theme is spread throughout the book.
It starts with Kenna survival from the abuse of her stepfather and being ignored by her mother. It’s also about Kenna survival of the demons inside of her.
When Kenna meets Donovan, she doesn't want to see him or spend time with him for 2 reasons. 1, Kenna doesn't feel worthy of him and 2, Kenna mistrusts all men, because she thinks they will turn into her step-father. I am going to leave the story there as I don't to spoil the story.
I was nervous about starting this book. I thought the premise of the story would be so dark that I would not be able to enjoy it. I WAS WRONG! Yes this story has dark moments, moments of jealousy and confusion. BUT! It’s also a story of love and finding yourself, a story of hope and new beginnings and that by far out ways any darkness of this book.
I really felt apart of this book. It just sucked me in and I have to admit I fell in love a little with Donovan! Wow, what a powerful character, what a lovely man with a deep soul.
So my rating for Walk with Me by Kaitlyn Stone is 10 out of 10! This is a book you can learn from and a book you must share
