Charlotte McLaren is tired of being
the good girl - the shy, gentle soul that everyone tiptoes around in case she
startles. She wants to be strong and decisive, as powerful and independent as
her Witch-sisters. She’s determined to join in the fight against their enemy
and to do that she has to challenge everything she’s been taught to believe.
Tristan, a Watchtower Knight, has
spent three agonizing months locked in a hell of dark magic - and he emerges a
changed man. No longer fun and carefree, there’s a darkness in him now that
stalks and prowls, just waiting to escape. A darkness he’s desperate to keep
from everyone he cares about, especially the lovely Charlotte.
But his water Witch lures him with
her innocence and determination, making demands he’s not sure he can fulfill.
His honor demands he walk away, but his heart already knows it’s too late.
Charlotte is
a water witch, and in a Quatre with her 3 other witch “sisters”; Amelia an Air
witch, Kam, a fire witch and Mycah an earth witch. After being recused from dark magic by the
protectors aka the knights of the watchtower, but alias they didn’t come out unscathed.
Tristan (a knight) soul watch snatched into the darkness of black magic by the
evil Malleus. But Charlotte will not let
Tristan stay in the darkness and after a light and dangerous fight; she succeeds
in bringing him back in to his body.
When Tristan
awakes, he can’t get Charlotte out of his head and after a time he realizes
that he is very much in love with her. Soon their relationship turns from one
of a protector in to one of a protector and lover.
But of
course, love can never run smoothly and the dark forces strike out at the knights
and the Quatre and then you just hope that they will survive.
Okay, so I
have not read any of the Watchtower Chronicles before and so I found this book
extremely hard to follow. There are many name, previous battles etc. that I haven’t
read about and while the author tried her hardest to catch the reader up on
what had happened in the previous two books, it didn’t quite get there. I will
say by the very end of the book it was much easier to read, though at times I
was still confused.
Overall a
good book and maybe after reading the first two, I will understand the book
better. I give Kissed By Water 7 out of 10
Delwyn Jenkins likes radical career changes. After
serving in the Australian Navy for ten years (and being exceptionally
disciplined) she switched to a full-time university Arts student (where getting
out of bed before 11am proved traumatic). She’s worked as a teacher, an editor,
and now writes full time - a career she plans to stick with for as long as
anyone wants to read her stories.
She’s an avid reader and movie-goer, an amateur belly dancer, and
a disinterested cook. She live on the beautiful south-east coast of Australia
where the changeable weather suits her mercurial nature. She writes sexy,
sensual paranormal romance as Delwyn Jenkins and also writes erotic romance
under the pen-name DJ Michaels.
