I Wish You Were Mine by Lauren Layne Review

By: Lauren Layne
Releasing February 2, 2016

Perfect for fans of Alice Clayton and Emma Chase, Lauren Layne’s Oxford series heats up in this story of forbidden desire as a brooding jock hoping for a comeback falls for a woman who’s strictly off-limits.

A year ago, Jackson Burke was married to the love of his life and playing quarterback for the Texas Redhawks. Now he’s retired, courtesy of the car accident that ruined his career—and single, after a nasty scandal torpedoed his marriage. Just as he’s starting to get used to his new life as a health and fitness columnist for Oxford magazine, his unpredictable ex shows up on his doorstep in Manhattan. Jackson should be thrilled. But he can’t stop thinking about the one person who’s always been there for him, the one girl he could never have: her younger sister.

Mollie Carrington can’t say no to Madison. After all, her older sister practically raised her. So when Madison begs for help in winning her ex-husband back, Mollie’s just glad she got over her own crush on Jackson ages ago—or so she thought. Because as Mollie reconnects with Jackson, she quickly forgets all her reasons to stay loyal to her sister. Tempted by Jackson’s mellow drawl and cowboy good looks, Mollie is sick and tired of coming in second place. But she can’t win if she doesn’t play the game.

I am super excited to be reading another Lauren Layne book and to be very blunt, when I read the synopsis for the book I knew I couldn’t let it slip through my fingers!

Mollie has love one man all of her life, but it is an unrequited love of epic proportion! You see Mollie is in love with her brother in law Jackson, well I should actually say ex-brother in law and best friend…also roommate, so when Mollie goes big, she REALLY goes big.

Mollie suffered through years of watching her sister manipulate Jackson; but after Jackson’s career ending accident and subsequent divorce, Mollie feels like Jackson has been hiding from her. So it all come to a head, after they meet up and it ends up with Mollie moving in and soon sparks ignite, until the past comes back to haunt them.

I will give you a heads up that this book is mainly from Jackson’s point of view, which is why I gave you a taster of Mollie’s above. This book is riveting and it sucked me in from the beginning. I absolutely loved all of Jackson’s co-workers at Oxford Magazine, I despise Madison, but the show stealer is Lincoln! Oh my goodness I love him and I am completely desperate to know his secret!

The writing, plot and characters are simply perfect and left me wanting more! Which just means that I Wish You Were Mine is simply perfect, so I give it 5 stars.
