Richard Jonas has loved
but one woman--a woman who belongs to his brother. Refusing to suffer
any longer, he evades his family in order to barricade his heart from
unrequited love. While attending a friend's summer picnic, Richard's
approach to love is changed after he shares a passionate and
life-altering kiss with a vibrant and mysterious woman. Believing he was
incapable of loving again, Richard finds himself tempted by a young
lady determined to marry his best friend.
Gemma Reed has not been treated kindly by the ton. Often disregarded for her appearance and interests unlike those of a proper lady, Gemma heads to a house party to win the heart of Lord Westfield, the man she's loved for years. But her plan is set off course by the tempting and intriguing, Richard Jonas.
A chance meeting creates a new path for Richard and Gemma to forge-- but can two people, scorned and shunned by those they've loved from afar, let down their guards to find true happiness?

So
I am thrilled to be back reviewing another book in the Lords of Honor series by
the amazing Christi Caldwell.
Miss
Gemma Reed was deemed by her peers to be ugly and though Gemma she did not see
herself as a raving beauty, she neither saw herself as so horribly unattractive
as painted by the ton. And even though she had been over looked as
"unworthy" Gemma is hoping that love may spark when she plans on
confessing her true feeling for her best friends brother; Robert, The Marquess
of Westfield.
But
fate has someone else in mind...
Mr.
Richard Jonas didn't care for for the ton, but instead care about his horses,
his business and his friends. Which is why he was at his friend Robert,
Marquess of Westfield house party. What he didn't expect though was Miss Gemma
Reed and how after their first meeting, he couldn't get her out of his head.
And so we enter into this rough and tumble
sort of courtship where Richard is trying to help her find her courage and all
the while falling in love with her himself.
As
normal Christi Caldwell writing is superb
and her characters are easy to fall in love with, and by the end of the
story you wish that you were apart of her world. I honestly can't say enough
about how much I love all of the characters in this book! And I truly hope that
Beatrice and her brother find beautiful love matches of their own.
I
give Tempted by a Lady's Smile a very well deserved 5 stars!
USA Today Bestselling author, Christi Caldwell blames Judith
McNaught's "Whitney, My Love," for luring her into the world of
historical romance. While sitting in her graduate school apartment at
the University of Connecticut, Christi decided to set aside her notes
and try her hand at writing romance. She believes the most perfect
heroes and heroines have imperfections and she rather enjoys tormenting
them before crafting a well-deserved happily ever after!
Christi
makes her home in Southern Connecticut where she spends her time
writing, chasing around her feisty six-year old son and caring for her
twin princesses in training!
Another lovely review, Cara. :)
